Separate unlocking progression from collecting optional discoveries. You do not need to make every session a push into Cinder’s Cradle.

Choose the kind of journey

Action checklist · editorial planning

  1. The 1.0 quest list distinguishes main quests from side quests. Read the main objective when seeking progression; pick a side quest when the goal is exploration or loot.
  2. Choose a destination you can reach with your current equipment and movement tools. Name a map marker for the objective or return point, and agree with companions whether to advance the story.

Use an exit-first Shroud plan

Action checklist · editorial planning

  1. Before descending, identify the approach and how you will climb or move back out. Watch the remaining Shroud time as you explore; leave before the return becomes uncertain.
  2. Common mistake: assuming the next point of interest will contain a time refill. Official tips mention that refills may exist, not that every location has one. Do not make an unverified refill the only way home.

Expand when your preparation catches up

Action checklist · editorial planning

  1. The 1.0 update expands edges of older regions as well as adding Cinder’s Cradle and more Hollow Halls. Revisit an unfinished main objective or a newly accessible older area if the northern expedition is too demanding.
  2. Before changing regions, review Flame progression, food, equipment upgrades and group readiness. For a first Cinder’s Cradle visit, use the dedicated expedition checklist; no precise route or access shortcut is asserted here.
